Project AI-Fusion

Tackling Emergent Dysfunctions (Fraunhofer IKS II)

Description

Proof of safety for AI-based systems is on the research agenda in this project. To this end, evidence along the entire cascade of safety requirements is collected and examined in order to ultimately provide an end-to-end safety argumentation. For safety-critical AI-based systems in particular, the required evidence and associated test procedures have not yet been researched to any great extent.

However, the main focus of Fraunhofer IKS is less on the development of application-specific intelligent services and more on the underlying architectures, platforms and development environments. These should make it possible to develop new intelligent services based on cognitive systems very quickly and flexibly, which can also meet the highest quality requirements - above all safety in the sense of security.

The aim is therefore to enable the use of software intelligence in safety-critical systems. In other words, using Safe Intelligence to contribute to advancing the next stage of digitalization in business and society.
